Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Makurdi Zonal Directorate, have arrested Dr. Mkor Aondona, the Special Adviser to the Executive Governor of Benue State on Documentation, Research, and Planning, over serious allegations of sextortion, cyberbullying, and blackmail.
The arrest was made on Friday, June 20, 2025, following a series of petitions submitted by female university students in the state. According to the petitioners, Dr. Aondona allegedly lured young women under the guise of offering ushering jobs, specifically targeting slim and attractive girls but demanded sexual favors as a precondition for selection.
Multiple victims claimed that while engaging in these coerced sexual encounters, the aide secretly recorded the acts without their consent. He is accused of later using these recordings to threaten and blackmail the victims, compelling them to continue the illicit relationships under duress.
Further investigations revealed that Dr. Aondona allegedly distributed some of the explicit videos via various messaging platforms. Several of these recordings have reportedly surfaced online, deepening the severity of the accusations against him.
The EFCC has confirmed that Dr. Aondona is in custody and will be formally charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Commission reiterated its commitment to protecting the rights of vulnerable individuals, especially women and young girls, and has urged anyone with additional information to come forward.
This arrest underscores the EFCC’s increasing focus on cyber-related offenses and sexual exploitation, which continue to be of growing concern nationwide.
